Overview

There is no mistaking that the Maldives´ beaches and resorts are among the most beautiful and luxurious in the world . The Maldives is a by-word for luxury, romance and tropical bliss; a beautiful string of low-lying coral islands in the Indian Ocean . Located close to Sri Lanka and the south of India, this tiny group of atolls in the middle of the Indian Ocean has been attracting travellers, particularly honeymooners, to book flights to the Maldives in search of a perfect escape. Luxury resorts on each island offering the highest standards of accommodation, pampering to make you feel like a king and some of the best diving in the world.

Distance from Airport

Malé International (MLE) on Hulule Island is 2km (1.2 miles) from Male. Journey time by boat - 15 minutes : Boats travel from the airport to Malé.

Getting Downtown Maldives

Trans Maldivian Airways and Maldivian Air Taxi (PTE) Ltd offer inter-island Maldives flights. Boat is unsurprisingly the most popular way to get around. There is a ferry service from the airport island to Male, the capital. The main form of local transport is a dhoni, a traditional vessel and for longer trips vedis (larger boats) are used.

When to Fly to Maldives

Peak Season:
Between December and April. Christmas and New Year is the most popular time

Shoulder Season:
November and April. These months are popular with divers because the water is clearer and there is greater visibility.

Off Season:
Between May and November, the weather is less guaranteed with cloudy skies, higher humidity and greater chance of rain. Ramadan falls in the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and marks 30 days of fasting.
